Stroll freely through the forest and listen to the living lines of sound; embrace the stirrings within and breathe together, and the heart is born anew

The 2013 production “Wandering Through a Forest of Voices” reflects on the phenomena of today’s virtual age. Through works that connect with personal reflections on nature, the land, faith, poetry and culture, it seeks to melt the indifference and distance created by the flood of the internet, and to reconnect people’s hearts with genuine feeling for all things.

The concert brings together Western and Taiwanese contemporary composers, performing works by L. Bardos, whose music has a distinctive Eastern European color; American composer Samuel Barber, known for strong melodic lines and lyrical character; leading British composer Jonathan Harvey; and outstanding Taiwanese contemporary composers including Ching Wen Chao, Fuk Wing Yim and Chen Hui Jen—a journey across East and West to capture the true emotion of sound, light and shadow.
