About the Program
The 2024 “Brilliant BACH” is the culmination of the Authentic Music in Action project. Taipei Chamber Singers, record holder at the Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts and Music, joins forces with French early-music master Pierre Hantaï, winner of the German Record Critics’ Award, together with leading European period-instrument players of Le Concert Français and some of Europe’s most active early-music singers, for a concert tour of Taiwan featuring five Bach cantatas.
Returning to the authentic original spirit, the entire program is devoted to Bach cantatas. Through “authentic performance” of Baroque music by a period orchestra, early-music singers and choir, the project aims to offer an unprecedented, forward-looking experience of listening to Baroque music.
This concert was recorded on 23–24 September 2024 at the Weiwuying Concert Hall in Kaohsiung and released by the French label PARATY and Taiwan’s Sunrise Records as the album “Brilliant Bach”.
