Taipei Chamber Singers’ “Brilliant BACH” has received two nominations at the 37th Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts and Music: Best Art Music Album and Best Vocal Performance.

“Brilliant BACH” features five Bach cantatas and is the fruit of Authentic Music in Action, an international project spanning three years from 2021. The album was recorded in 2024 and released in 2025 as a co-production with the French label Paraty. From early research, rehearsals and performances to recording and post-production, working alongside an international team of specialists taught us a great deal and bore wonderful results.

The album is conducted by the French early-music master Pierre Hantaï, together with Le Concert Français and Formosa Baroque, and brings in four European early-music singers—soprano Dorothee Mields, mezzo-soprano Margot Oitzinger, tenor Florian Sievers and baritone Matthias Vieweg—alongside 16 singers of the Taipei Chamber Singers. We also thank our advisor, 陳逸芬, for accompanying us throughout the whole journey. We are deeply honored that “Brilliant BACH” has earned the recognition of the Golden Melody Awards jury.

Earlier this year, “Fourty-four Fourtunes of Formosa” (島嶼上沒有四十四隻石獅子) was nominated for the Taishin Arts Award, and now “Brilliant BACH” has been nominated at the Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts and Music. From theatrical experiments in contemporary music to a return to the sources of early music, both speak to the core of the Taipei Chamber Singers: how choral music can be understood anew, performed anew, and heard anew.
