Contemporary Finnish Choral Highlights ╳ Poulenc: Gloria ╳ Ramírez: Misa Criolla

Fire burning within the cold, stillness glimmering amid the clamour
Singing from the world’s far north to its far south: an imagined musical grand tour

From Northern Europe to South America, the 2020 flagship production “Madame Rouge’s Fantasy World – Misa Criolla” (紅紅夫人的異想世界-中南美彌撒) moves between ice and heat, presenting the vivid contrasts of cultures across borders. The concert features a selection of a cappella works full of contemporary beauty by the Finnish composers J. Mäntyjärvi, P. Kostiainen, and J. Linkola, revealing the distinctive vocal language of the Nordic world. Alongside them come two large-scale sacred works rich in national character—Gloria by the French composer F. Poulenc and Misa Criolla by the Argentine composer A. Ramírez—each brilliant in its own language. The 2020 “Madame Rouge’s Fantasy World – Misa Criolla” takes you to faraway lands on a musical grand tour across the latitudes.
