America In Sight
About the Program
Heng-Yi Pao × Taipei Chamber Singers: A Journey Through Contemporary American Choral Music
In summer 2022, the Taipei Chamber Singers invites internationally award-winning young conductor Heng-Yi Pao to explore the many facets of American choral music from the twentieth century to today. Setting out from “Chichester Psalms” by twentieth-century musical legend Leonard Bernstein, the program continues with Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw’s suite “To the Hands,” Samuel Barber’s “Agnus Dei,” Grammy winner Eric Whitacre’s “Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine,” Moses Hogan’s arrangement of the spiritual “Walk Together, Children,” Jake Runestad’s “Let My Love Be Heard,” and Morten Lauridsen’s “Sure on This Shining Night” — enduring classics of the American choral repertoire. Join us in seeing the world through the eyes of American composers as we discover America together!
