Lost to the World: The Romanticism of Heng-Yi Pao

Living in this fast-changing world, do you sometimes feel weary and long for a quiet place? On Wednesday, 28 May 2025, at 7:30 pm, Taipei Chamber Singers presents “Lost to the World: The Romanticism of Heng-Yi Pao” at the National Concert Hall. Austria-based conductor Heng-Yi Pao, who has been highly active in recent years, joins as guest conductor, collaborating with pianist Nai-Chia Wang and harpist Wei-Ching Tseng. Centered on Mahler’s deeply moving masterpiece “Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen,” the program brings together Romantic repertoire spanning a century alongside newly commissioned contemporary choral works, exploring the profound philosophical reflections of Romanticism. In unsettled times, it seeks to find through music the strength to be still and to move forward.
