In search of the emotion of pure, original colors: refined voices that resound without end

The choir’s early days were hard: members moved from place to place just to find somewhere to gather and rehearse. While still fledglings, they boldly set off for Europe and won a gold medal at a choral competition. Days before an international competition, the choir’s central figure, its conductor, was seriously injured and ordered by doctors not to travel; yet the trip went ahead, drawing the group even closer together, and they won the Grand Prix to international acclaim, a miracle for Taiwanese choral music. Throughout its journey, TCS has held on to an unfading passion and a firm conviction to bring contemporary choral art with a distinctly Eastern character to the international stage.

For its 20th anniversary in 2012, TCS presents The Original, built around two themes, “Contemporary Originals” and “Twenty Years of Footprints,” as a thank-you to its audiences. The program presents the original colors woven from the human voice together with nature, art, and humanity, uncovering the profound inspiration choral music brings to human life, along with classic repertoire that won major prizes at important European choral competitions over the years. This coming-of-age celebration traces the growth of an ensemble that has triumphed in numerous choral competitions while continually deepening its artistry; like a pioneer advancing with fearless steps, it shows the resolve and achievements of a choir devoted to forging the contemporary Eastern voice.
