2024 Songs of the Years

Confident voices, singing a landscape of song

Founded more than twenty years ago, TCS Women’s Choir has won top prizes at national music competitions many times and has performed in Japan, Malaysia, and Italy. Its members are not only people from all walks of life but also messengers of musical art, writing the brilliance of their lives through song. “Songs of the Years” is the truest expression of their life journeys.

Songs of the Years, the 2025 TCS Women’s Choir showcase concert, presents choral works in a variety of languages and styles, displaying voices by turns deep, soaring, playful, and passionate, and painting a magnificent landscape of human voices.

The first part includes the contemporary sacred choral works “Benedicamus Domino,” “Gloria in Excelsis Deo,” “Festival Sanctus,” and “Baba Yetu.” The second part brings “Whisper” by composer Greg Gilpin, the light-hearted and witty “The Pink Panther,” and “Libertango,” the classic by Argentine tango master Astor Piazzolla.

The second half centers on the languages of Taiwan. Its first part features the Hakka song “Passing Through” (行過), two Taiwanese songs, “Where Is Spring?” (春天佇跎位) and “Sing a Gentle Song” (唱一首温柔的歌), the Puyuma song “Mother’s Garland” (媽媽的花環), and the Bunun song “Cina, Mother’s Eyes” (Cina媽媽的眼睛). The second part presents “Born of Tea” (茶生), winner of Best Composition at the 3rd Sing for Love Choral Composition Competition, along with two beloved favorites, “Happy Paradise” (快樂天堂) and “Evening Bell at Nanping” (南屏晚鐘), bringing the concert to a fulfilling close.

With their passion for singing, the members of TCS Women’s Choir draw on the experience of the years to interpret the delicate emotions of each piece—“singing with life, and living through song”—bringing audiences Songs of the Years.
