2024 TCS Funfest

Building local artistic and cultural character through song, and raising choral art together

The 2024 TCS Funfest brings together the TCS Institute for Choral Arts—TCS Women’s Choir 2, TCS Women’s
Choir 3, and TCS Fifty Mixed Choir—with the Fuku no Kai Women’s Choir and the Ryuseigun Choir
from Japan in a richly varied program, sharing a passion for choral singing and the power of music to create the beauty of choral art across borders.

The program spans Mandarin, Japanese, English, Hakka, and more. The Fuku no Kai Women’s
Choir from Japan presents “Sakura,” along with three works by the noted composer Takatomi Nobunaga: “Sing Me a Song”
(Singmeasong), “Happy Snail” (Shiawase yo Katatsumuri ni notte), and
“Spring” (Haru). The Ryuseigun Choir presents Nobunaga’s collection for unaccompanied mixed choir, “Cowboy
Pop,” and “Wakamonotachi,” the theme song of the TV drama Wakamonotachi 2014
(Wakamonotachi).

The ensembles of the TCS Institute for Choral Arts present music rich in the character of Taiwan, including the folk-song arrangements “Listening to the
Spring” (聽泉) and “The Ancient Mountain Trail” (今山古道); the TV and film songs “Lupine Flower” (魯冰花), “Ode to Mother (Cina) & My Darling” (媽媽頌(cina)&心肝寶貝),
“You Are All My Memories” (你是我所有的回憶), and “Guarding the Sunshine, Guarding You” (守著陽光守著你); the Taiwanese folk song “Dark Skies” (天烏烏); and the simple, warm-hearted Hakka
song “Brother A-Shu’s Grocery Store” (阿樹哥个雜貨店). Through close collaboration with our Japanese partner choirs, the concert brings together different cultural backgrounds in
exchange, in the hope of fostering a shared international culture of community choral singing. We warmly invite the public, family, and friends to come and enjoy the performance and its
rich and varied choral program.
