“Contemporary Encounters of Poetry and Song: A Night of Flourishing Taiwanese Choral Music” Concludes
Together with the Hsin Hsin Choir, we sang works in Mandarin, Taiwanese and Hakka colored by Taiwan’s land and people, including four prize-winning works from the 4th Sing for Love competition.
The air seemed to take on a warm glow from the singing. On the evening of 10 April, the concert “Contemporary Encounters of Poetry and Song: A Night of Flourishing Taiwanese Choral Music” saw the Taipei Chamber Singers and the Hsin Hsin Choir sing a harmonious finale together.
We were delighted to join forces with the energetic Hsin Hsin Choir in music colored by Taiwan’s land and people, performing works in Mandarin, Taiwanese and Hakka that voice longing for home and paint poetic scenes. The four prize-winning works from the 4th Sing for Love International Choral Composition Competition, shining with the light of a new generation, made the evening an unforgettable journey of hearts meeting.
Thank you to conductor Jia Fen Wong of the Taipei Chamber Singers and conductor 房樹孝 of the Hsin Hsin Choir for interpretations that gave the music life; to pianists Nai-Chia Wang and 温佳霖 for accompaniment as deft as flowing water, supporting every voice; to host 林伯杰 for wit and good humor; to all the members of the Hsin Hsin Choir for their enthusiasm; and to the singers of the Taipei Chamber Singers for their seamless blend.
For making this concert possible, we sincerely thank Honorary Chairman 陳何家, who has stood by us for many years, together with Shin Shin Natural Gas Co., Ltd., which he leads, and the 陳根塗 Cultural and Educational Foundation. Without his wholehearted support, this musical feast could not have taken place.
Finally, our deepest thanks to everyone who came and immersed themselves in the music with us. The warm applause echoing through the hall gave meaning to every breath of the music.
