房樹孝 Becomes President of the Taipei Chamber Choral Arts and Culture Association
Founded in 2021, the Taipei Chamber Choral Arts and Culture Association focuses on choral education and public service. 房樹孝 has formally taken office as President, and the Association will open a new chapter on its existing foundations.
Passing music on often requires two forces working side by side: one that pursues the highest artistic standards on stage, and another that cultivates the fertile ground of education and public service offstage. If the Taipei Chamber Singers is the artistic summit we take pride in, the Taipei Chamber Choral Arts and Culture Association is the foundation that supports that summit and carries choral culture out into society.
Looking back to 2021: recognizing the urgent need for choral education and public service, and as the ensemble took on greater social responsibility, General Manager 方素貞 marked the Taipei Chamber Singers’ thirtieth anniversary by calling together members from its thirty years, along with people from many walks of life who share a passion for choral culture. Together they founded the ensemble’s second registered organization, the Taipei Chamber Choral Arts and Culture Association.
The Association was founded so that music would no longer be confined to the concert hall. At home, we focus on deepening cultural roots and on public service, continuing the long-standing educational programs of the TCS Institute for Choral Arts and the Singing Among Friends (唱遊知音) community outreach tour, encouraging people to take part in singing themselves and to experience the pure joy of choral music in everyday life. Internationally, the Association actively promotes exchange between Taiwan and international choral organizations, holding workshops, lectures and masterclasses in Taiwan with leading international artists, working through concrete action to create a more diverse choral ecosystem and to build a culturally richer Taiwan.
Today we are honored to announce that 房樹孝 has formally taken office as President of the Taipei Chamber Choral Arts and Culture Association, marking the beginning of a new chapter built on the Association’s solid foundations. The two organizations will continue to divide and share their work: focusing on top-level performance while also committing to education and public service, so that the influence of the performing arts can reach as far as possible. Under the leadership of President 房樹孝, we hope to keep bringing the beauty of choral music into every corner of society.
