Authentic Music in Action: Le Nuove Musiche
19 Jul. 2023
Acclaimed European baritone MARC MAUILLON ╳ Taipei Chamber Singers
After Renaissance counterpoint and polyphony reached their height, a wholly new concept of vocal performance emerged in the seventeenth century. Drawing inspiration from ancient Greek tragedy, musicians sought to express the full range of human emotion more deeply, in a new style of singing closer to speech, shaping the core spirit of the Baroque era. French baritone Marc Mauillon joins Taipei Chamber Singers in a conductorless concert of French and Italian vocal works from the late Renaissance to the Baroque, tracing the transformation of the art of the voice from the Renaissance into the Baroque.
