The 2nd Sing for Love Choral Composition Competition was made possible by 王光明, who invited 張順立, former President of the Friends of the National Culture and Arts Foundation; 馬長生, Governor of Rotary International District 3521; the Rotary Club of Taipei North; and the Rotary Club of Taipei Kuandu to jointly support this edition, with Taipei Chamber Singers commissioned as organizer. The competition aims to discover songwriting and composing talent, reward outstanding works, provide a quality platform for presenting them, and promote the singing of the winning songs—opening a door of opportunity for every entrant.

The jury was chaired by composer Shu Xi Chen and included noted lyricists 武雄 and 樓南蔚 and musicians 林純純, Jia Fen Wong, 許雙亮, and 劉聖賢. After lively deliberation, the jury selected this year’s 15 winning works from more than 60 entries that met the eligibility requirements of the written review.

Beyond rewarding each winner with prize money, the Sing for Love project will go on to provide quality channels for performance, publication, and promotion of the works. The 15 winning works will receive their premieres from Taipei Chamber Singers and the choir of the private Jiren Elementary School, New Taipei City, at the awards ceremony and premiere concert on 18 April 2021. Through concert premieres, licensed publication of the scores, and a series of follow-up outreach projects, we hope that every one of these works—each conveying the beauty of Taiwan and inspiring the heart—will be widely sung!
