Announcement: TCS 2018 Member Auditions

2018 second-round auditions for Regular Members and Project Members: applications now open

Taipei Chamber Singers is holding its second round of auditions under its 2018 expansion plan, recruiting both Regular Members and Project Members. Those admitted will take part, respectively, in performances of large-scale classic choral works or in the October “2018 Asian Composers League (ACL) Conference and Asia-Pacific Music Festival – Choral/Vocal Art Concert.” If you love choral music, join us in opening new horizons for choral music!

Regular Members

2018/07 ::: NSO Music · Theater: Grieg’s “Peer Gynt”

2018/09 ::: “Song of the Land” (大地之歌): Taiwanese songs by Wei Bin Chen

2018/12 ::: “Madame Rouge’s Fantasy World – Chichester Psalms” (紅紅夫人的異想世界－奇徹斯特詩篇)

Project Members (rehearsal and performance fees provided)

2018/10 ::: “2018 Asian Composers League (ACL) Conference and Asia-Pacific Music Festival – Choral/Vocal Art Concert”

Audition date | 2018/05/26 (Sat) 14:30–17:30

Eligibility | Age 16 and over; men and women welcome

Audition content |

1. One piece of your choice (an art song or aria, Chinese or Western)

2. Sight-singing (one piece for Regular Members, two for Project Members)

Deadline | Applications close at 23:59 on 5/20 (Sun). Audition time slots will be emailed on 5/23 (Wed).

Venue | 3F, No. 159, Sec. 1, Dunhua S. Rd., Da’an Dist., Taipei City

(Take Exit 8 at MRT Zhongxiao Dunhua Station and walk straight ahead about 100 m)

Audition Notes

1. Assessment standards for Project Members and Regular Members differ according to production needs

2. An accompanist is provided on site; please bring a copy of your score. You may also bring your own accompanist

3. Applicants auditioning for both categories need prepare only one piece of their choice

4. No warm-up or practice room and no photocopying of scores are available on site

5. Regular Member rehearsals are held every Sunday, 6:30–9:00 pm

6. Project Member rehearsals are held on Sunday afternoons or evenings, with additional rehearsals possibly scheduled as needed (see the rehearsal schedule)

7. Project Members receive rehearsal and performance fees; details will be explained on the audition day.
