Ying-Jen Yao Ying-Jen Yao

A native of Kaohsiung, Ying-Jen Yao holds a master's degree in vocal performance from Tunghai University. Yao has studied with 王中發 and 陳榮光 and currently studies with 李秀芬. Yao was named a Young Artist by the Vocal Artists Association of the Republic of China and a Rising Musician at the 4th Taipei Philharmonic Foundation Young Artists Showcase, and won third prize at the 1st Chung Shan Cup National Vocal Competition. Alongside an active performing career, Yao is dedicated to teaching solo and choral singing; Yao's relaxed and lively teaching style is widely appreciated, and Yao is frequently invited to give workshops and guest vocal training around Taiwan. Choirs currently conducted by Yao include the Taichung City Choir, the Providence University Choir, the Taichung Municipal Hui-Wen High School Choir, the music-program choirs of Gongguan Junior High School and Gongguan Elementary School in Miaoli, the Hegang Junior High School Choir in Miaoli, the music-program choir of Caotun Elementary School, Taichung Zhongxiao Road Presbyterian Church (church choir and women's choir), and the Dadu Church Choir in Taichung County. Yao is also vocal coach for the Kaohsiung Chamber Choir, the vocal music club of Kaohsiung Medical University, and the National Taiwan University Chorus.
