Zhen Wei Deng Deng, Zhen Wei (Lighting Design)

Zhen Wei Deng received a BFA in lighting design from the Department of Theatre Design and Technology at Taipei National University of the Arts in 2004, and an MFA in lighting design from the Department of Theatre and Dance at The University of Texas at Austin. Deng recently served as assistant lighting designer for “Taiwan Dancer” (臺灣舞孃), Taiwan’s first large-scale tourist show, and for “Dreamers” (夢想家), the rock musical for the Republic of China’s centennial National Day, and spent many years as an assistant to Taiwanese theatre set and lighting designers. From 2009 Deng was lighting designer for The Duplicates Theatre Company in the United States, beginning work in environmental theatre lighting; Deng’s designs for The Idiot, The Trojan Women, and Love’s Labour’s Lost each received nominations for best lighting design from Austin theatre critics. Recent lighting designs include “Dust” (塵埃), “iI Love Love” (iI愛愛), and “One Table Two Chairs x4” (一桌二椅x4) for Shakespeare’s Wild Sisters Group; “Love. Fashion” (愛。時尚) for Taiwan Drama Performers, on tour in Taiwan and Shanghai; “Only Secrets Can Be Exchanged for Secrets” (只有祕密可以交換祕密) for Riverbed Theatre; “Within You 1.0” (在你之內1.0) for Film-Dance Environmental Theatre (菲林癲視環境劇場); “2012 Next Choreography Project 2” (2012下一個編舞計劃2) by 周書毅; “陳綺真 Pussy Tour 2012 ‘Placeless Place’” for 天翼文創; “Mountains, Rivers, Clouds and Sky: Ru Jing Duo Concert” (山水雲天 如菁二重唱演唱會) for 源活國際; the “Interstellar Flight Concert” (星際飛行之旅音樂會) for Wind Music; and “The Servant of Two Masters” (一僱二主) for the Taiwan Applied Theatre Development Association.
