Taipei Chamber Singers Partners with Le Vivier of Canada: Jules Bastin-Fontaine Selected for a New Commission
In our first call for scores with Le Vivier, the Canadian centre for contemporary music, composer Jules Bastin-Fontaine has been selected; the new work will receive its world premiere by the Taipei Chamber Singers in July 2026.
Through Music Unlimited, its platform for contemporary choral music, the Taipei Chamber Singers has long worked with composers to bring new Taiwanese contemporary choral music into being, while continually building an international network: recommending works from the platform to international stages and bringing international creative energy back to Taiwan to build something together. This year, for the first time, we have joined forces with Le Vivier, the Canadian centre for contemporary music, opening a new connection with the North American contemporary music scene.
Le Vivier and the Taipei Chamber Singers jointly announce that composer Jules Bastin-Fontaine has been selected through our recent call for scores and will write a new commissioned work for the Taipei Chamber Singers. The ensemble was deeply impressed by the powerful singularity of the composer’s artistic language, and we are very much looking forward to what this collaboration will spark.
Jules’s new contemporary choral work is scheduled to receive its world premiere by the Taipei Chamber Singers in July 2026. The composer will also travel to Taipei to attend the premiere and to work and rehearse with the ensemble.
The selection was made jointly by a jury comprising, from the Taipei Chamber Singers, collaborating artist Apo Hsu, 高端禾, Convener of the Artistic Planning Committee, and composer Shiuan Chang, together with Le Vivier’s Artistic Director Jeffrey Stonehouse, in consultation with Danielle Palardy Roger and Charles-Eric Fontaine of Le Vivier’s artistic collaboration team.

Le Vivier and Taipei Chamber Singers are thrilled to announce that Jules Bastin-Fontaine has been selected for a new commission by the Taipei Chamber Singers as part of our recent call for scores. The ensemble was deeply impressed by the singularity and strength of his artistic voice, and we are excited to see this collaboration come to life.
Jules will compose a new choral work to be premiered in July 2026 by the Taipei Chamber Singers, and will travel to Taipei to attend the premiere and work directly with the ensemble.
