Ha Na Lee (the Chinese rendering 李荷娜 is provisional) was born in Seoul, South Korea, and creates mainly video, performance, installation art and experimental film. The work centers on poetic narratives depicting experiences of physical and psychological trauma, and is especially adept at creating bodily and viewing experiences and spatializing fragmented narratives, presented through immersive interactive environments.
Lee has held several solo and group exhibitions, and Lee's video works have been screened in the United States, South Korea, Japan, Puerto Rico, Spain, the Netherlands and elsewhere. Lee has received a New York Foundation for the Arts fellowship, a Strategic Opportunity Stipend, the Turner Graduate Fellowship at Stony Brook University in New York, and other grants. Lee currently lives in Seattle and is a PhD candidate at DXARTS, the Center for Digital Arts and Experimental Media at the University of Washington.
