Crossing boundaries of the spirit: Lien Percussion, a new star of contemporary art. Crossover art is among the most puzzling forms in contemporary art; as the drums resound, an invisible melody breaks down the barriers between the human heart and art.

Percussion has given rise to a crossover movement in contemporary art for everyone, regardless of age, status, wealth, or nationality. Nothing needs to be taken apart, yet the “wall” has already vanished. This is the entirely new musical territory that people are rediscovering in the 21st century: one with ideas and a language of its own, demanding world-class musicianship, yet able to reach the general public.

Lien Percussion is a rising star of today’s performance stage, combining classical tradition, professionalism, a joyful approach to life, and forward-looking vision. It was founded by 連雅文, an internationally renowned percussionist and principal timpanist of the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO). Its members are outstanding contemporary percussionists, each highly acclaimed for their own skills; besides holding master’s and doctoral degrees from Taiwan and abroad, they are among the brightest rising stars on stages at home and internationally.

Since its founding, Lien Percussion has been active in arts events for businesses, public institutions, schools, and communities. Its stirring drumming and beautiful melodies have truly become a new language for sharing joy in life and ecological sustainability. Going forward, the ensemble will actively join forces with government, civic, and corporate partners and events of all kinds, taking innovative forms of performance to the international stage in the hope of bringing “Drum Classics of the Soul: New Taiwanese Percussion” from Taiwan to the world.
