Music Unlimited II: “Apricot Blossoms, Sky and Shadow” (杏花天影)

Included in “Chinese Choral Music Anthology: Music Unlimited II.”

About the Work

“Apricot Blossoms, Sky and Shadow” is a work for women’s choir based on the qin piece of the same name by the Song dynasty ci poet Jiang Kui. The melody is graceful and flowing throughout, the polyphonic lines rise and fall in turn, and the harmony is archaic and ethereal; the voices are deeply moving, and the piano accompaniment is rigorously textured.
