1st Sing for Love Choral and Solo Song Composition Competition: Winning Works

A Vision Uniting Philanthropy and the Arts

In 2018, 王光明, Governor of Rotary International District 3521, launched the first Sing for Love Songwriting and Composition Competition, inviting 莊進標, Governor of District 3481, 陳世霖, Governor of District 3482, and 張順立, President of the Friends of the National Culture and Arts Foundation, to take part, and entrusting the Taipei Chamber Singers with its planning and execution. Spanning one year and six months, the Sing for Love project used music as a bridge, embedding the themes of “Inspiring Life,” “Love,” and “Anti-Drug” in new choral and solo songs, in the hope of carrying goodness and care through beautiful songs and lifting positive energy with soaring voices.

This anthology of winning works from the 1st Sing for Love Choral and Solo Song Composition Competition contains the top three prize-winning works in each of three categories: mixed choir, equal-voice choir, and solo voice. It also includes, as an appendix, the prize-winning lyrics on the three main themes of “Inspiring Life,” “Love,” and “Anti-Drug.” Beyond recognizing and supporting the 12 emerging songwriters and composers who won, we hope these positive works will take root and spread throughout every corner of society, giving hope a voice and letting love be sung far and wide.
