2024 Grace in Resonance

Brought together by music, singing together for love

The members of TCS Female Choir 4 met through their love of singing. Beginning with praise and fulfillment, this concert opens the members’ choral journey. With “love” as its theme, the program features songs in many languages. The first half focuses on songs in foreign languages. Part one, “Singing for Love,” opens the concert with “Clap Your Hands and Sing,” “Celebrate with Jubilant Song,” and “Why We Sing” by the well-known American choral composer Mary Lynn Lightfoot, along with the beloved “You Raise Me Up.”

Part two, “In Praise of Beauty,” brings the Japanese song “Watashitachi wa Hana to Nari,” the Indonesian folk song “Ayo Mama,” and the English songs “Leave No Song Unsung” and “How Can I Keep from Singing,” celebrating all that is beautiful in song.

The second half focuses on songs of Taiwan. Part one, “Songs of the Years,” features “Azalea” (杜鵑花), “Woman Flower” (女人花), “Hair-Bun Flower” (髻鬃花), and “Tung Blossom Waltz” (桐花圓舞曲). Women of every age are like beautiful, unfading flowers, and through their voices the members portray these wise and graceful women.

Part two, “A Gathering Through Music,” takes the audience on an outing with “The Little Train of Alishan” (阿里山小火車), then leads everyone through familiar songs such as “Your Name Engraved Herein” (刻在我心底的名字), “Cina & My Darling” (Cina&心肝寶貝), and “Angel” (天使). Filled with romantic love, family love, and self-fulfillment, this journey sends the audience home with full hearts.
