Playful Songs, Playful Voices

The TCS Vocal Ensemble’s 2011 production

Birdsong and insect calls, the clamor of gongs and drums, graceful strains of music… What if there were no instruments, only voices: how would you play? Play with the classics, play with the voice! This is the playground of a group of choral old-timers: beyond classical, folk, and jazz, great pop songs can be transformed into a cappella too. Come and hear how many forms the human voice can take!

Launched in 2009, the TCS Vocal Ensemble is a new, creative vocal group that carries on the Taipei Chamber Singers’ ideal of pure vocal sound and precise technique. Singing entirely a cappella across a range of musical styles, it promises a musical experience quite unlike any other.
