A Taste of Renaissance
About the Program
What aroma would a coffee ground from Renaissance voices have?
The Taipei Chamber Singers’ special menu serves only the rich classics of the Renaissance
The familiar scent of coffee + refined voices, awakening the taste buds of your ears….
Savor the exquisite aesthetics of early music!
Josquin des Prés, G.P. da Palestrina, L. Marenzio, C. Monteverdi, J. Bennet, John Wilbye, P.ierre Passereau, H. L. Hassler… Renaissance motets, French chansons, German secular songs, and English and Italian madrigals.
The Taipei Chamber Singers has specially invited coffee expert Yan Zhang Su (author of “咖啡賞味誌” [A Coffee Tasting Journal], one of Taiwan’s top 100 bestsellers of 2004) to join the conversation. The concert offers a specially crafted musical menu devoted to the rich classics of the 15th and 16th centuries. As the coffee expert introduces coffees of different flavors and aromas, associations arise with the vocal music, guiding audiences—amid voices, conversation and atmosphere—to savor the Renaissance’s attention to humanity and its aesthetic symbolism.
