Renaissance Reborn
About the Program
Renaissance Music × Fine Art
An exhibition in the concert hall, music in the museum
A new experience for the eyes, a new thrill for the ears!
“In troubled times, we need to return once more to our clearest inner selves
and seek a new humanism for the 21st century.” — 王焜生
Across 400 years, the humanist spirit of the Renaissance is reborn in a new form. For “Renaissance Reborn” (Renaissance・文藝重生), Taipei Chamber Singers invites international curator 王焜生 to approach the program from an artist’s perspective, linking the painting and music of the Renaissance across five exhibition galleries and leading audiences into a Renaissance art museum filled with sound.
Taking a broad view, Taipei Chamber Singers explores the many ways early music relates to our lives today. Following “Savoring · Renaissance” (品味・Renaissance), which paired music with coffee, “Wandering · Renaissance” (漫遊・Renaissance), which stepped into church architecture, and “Feasting · Renaissance” (饗宴・Renaissance), which celebrated food culture, the ensemble once again crosses disciplines in “Renaissance Reborn,” merging with the visual arts to seek a new humanism for our own troubled times.
