Crossing borders through song: the 2025 TCS Funfest expands its reach once again!

Following last year’s warmly received Taiwan–Japan exchange, TCS Funfest broadens its international scope in 2025, welcoming ensembles from Indonesia and Korea to share the stage with the TCS Institute for Choral Arts. Five choirs from three places come together in one celebration of choral music, showing the human voice at its most vibrant.

Founded in 2015 in Surabaya, Indonesia, Swara Svarna Indonesia is guided by the idea of “a golden voice from the heart” and is dedicated to promoting Indonesian music. Blending tradition and modernity, its program offers authentic traditional Javanese folk songs and choral reinterpretations of Indonesian pop songs, revealing the energy and depth of music from the tropical south.

Korea’s Pyeongtaek Women’s Choir, which has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, has been known for its interpretations of Korean works since its founding in 1990. The choir presents a song cycle based on poems by Korean national poet Yoon Dong-ju, along with classic Korean folk songs such as “Arirang,” revealing a subtle and profound cultural heritage.

From the TCS Institute for Choral Arts, TCS Female Choir 4, TCS Fifty Mixed Choir and TCS Female Choir 5 (massed choir) sing songs including “Silly Child” (戇囡仔) and “Louder Applause” (噗仔聲加催落), answering the warmth from overseas with the most familiar warmth of home. One evening, three cultures: join us to sing and celebrate together, and experience the powerful musical energy of choral singers from across borders!
