Annabel Castro’s work focuses on video, Internet and mechatronic art. She is currently digital and experimental media professor at the university of the National Institute of Fine Arts (ENPEG – INBA) and Centro (University for Design, film and television) in Mexico City. She works both on her own and in collaborative projects. She has received several times the PBEE grant from the National Foundation for Arts and Culture of Mexico. Her artwork has been shown in several venues such as the Transmediale in Berlin, Transitio MX in Mexico City, the Contemporary Culture Center of Barcelona, the National Museum Art Center Reina Sofia in Madrid, the Contemporary Art Museum of Santiago in Chile, the Contemporary Art and Design Museum of Costa Rica, Hiroshima Art Center, Röda Sten Museum in Gothenburg and at the International Art Biennial SIART where she received the “La Paz” award.

Castro completed an MSc in Art and Technology at Chalmers University in Sweden and a BA in Graphic Design at the National Autonomous University of Mexico where she also worked as a designer at their Institute for Aesthetic Research and taught courses at their Academic Computing Center. At present she is a PhD Candidate at DXARTS, University of Washington, Seattle.
